The Role

Black Semiconductor is seeking an Engineering Technician – Electronics and Photonics Devices Characterization Lab f/m/d) to support our electronics integrated graphene photonics device characterization efforts as we scale from R&D to volume manufacturing. In this role, you will carry out device testing and characterization protocols, maintain laboratory equipment, and support the transition from prototype to production testing. This hands-on technical role is a great opportunity to grow your skills in a fast-growing semiconductor startup shaping the future of graphene based photonic devices

Test and characterize electronics integrated graphene photonics products (modulators, photodetectors, integrated circuits, optical I/O) using advanced electrical, optical, and RF equipment
Develop, execute, and improve test protocols to validate performance, support production integration, and ensure compliance with quality standards
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot sophisticated lab and test equipment, ensuring accurate, reliable measurements
Collect, analyze, and report measurement data to support yield monitoring, reliability testing, and failure analysis
Contribute to design-for-test (DFT) implementation, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment

Your Qualifications

B.S. in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or related technical field or equivalent technical diploma with hands-on experience
Hands on experience in semiconductor device testing or photonics characterization
Familiarity with high-frequency electrical measurements and optical testing
Proficiency in operating and maintaining photonic characterization equipment and measurement techniques
Knowledge of high-speed communication RF photonics measurements
Experience with automated test equipment operation and programming
Understanding of measurement uncertainty and calibration procedures
Previous experience in photonics or optoelectronics testing
Strong skills in data collection and analysis using tools such as Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW
Hands-on experience with precision measurement instruments and lab equipment
